Normally if you have an hour and a half you will have time for a game of paddle tennis. Sometimes things drag on, especially depending on the level (and competitiveness) of the players participating, of course.
What few could expect is that a match could have lasted more than an entire day. Yes, more than 24 hours.
From what we have been able to investigate, and as the colleagues on the website https://www.analistaspadel.com/ believe, the longest match in the history of padel was carried out by four padel players in 2019.
26 hours, 3 minutes and 20 seconds was the record that these authentic figures achieved in a match that was held on September 21 (and 22), 2019 on court 9 of the La Moraleja Paddle Club.
Certified by the Madrid Federation and Guinness , it has become a world record, unbeaten at least to date.
This record leaves far behind the famous tennis match played between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut, which at Wimbledon 2010 is to this day the longest official tennis match in the history of tennis.
The tennis match between Isner and Mahut lasted no less than 11 hours and 5 minutes and was played over three days at the legendary All England Tennis Club (court 18 for details).
No less than 665 minutes of play and also in a first round of an ATP tournament.
The players played four sets on the first day , but the match had to be stopped due to lack of natural light. They returned the next day and began a crazy fifth set. Until 2010 at Wimbledon, the last set had to be won by a difference of two games, it was not resolved by time-break.
The two tennis players were unable to take that lead on the scoreboard and the day ended unresolved due to lack of light. The match resumed on the third day until American Isner finally prevailed, holding serve at 137 of the fifth set, then destroying Mahut at 138 to win. John Isner won 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 70-68.
The fifth set alone lasted eight hours and 11 minutes . John Isner, totally exhausted, eventually retired in the second round against the Dutchman Thiemo De Bakker in two sets, undoubtedly due to the beating the previous day.
This match gave rise to a change in regulations and with the appearance of the super time-break it makes it impossible for matches to last so long.
